PONDA
About 98 workers of a pharmaceutical company in Ponda taluka are on strike since January 31 demanding the pay revision and to protest against the harassment of their leaders by the company management.
According to sources, the pay revision demand of the workers is pending since the last five years and the workers claim to have frequently requested the management to look into their demand.
The workers, who are demonstrating in the campus of the company, have not allowed the company to start production by engaging contractual workers. “We will not allow the company to start the production, as they have not fulfilled our demand of pay revision,” a worker told The Goan.
He said they are waiting to see revision in their pay scale since last the five years, but it is not revised.
Sources informed that suspension of one of their leaders has irked the workers, prompting them to go on strike.
