After the completion of 14 days in police custody, the main accused in the alleged Sonali Phogat murder case were on Saturday remanded to judicial custody by a Mapusa court.
The alleged main accused “ Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Singh “ were sent to 13-day judicial custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mapusa.
Anjuna Police had asked for 14 days of judicial custody of the accused.
The accused duo were arrested in the murder case on August 26 and later initially sent to police custody for 10 days. The police remand was later extended twice with two days period each.
Phogat was brought dead to a hospital in Anjuna early August 23 after partying with her two associates “ Sagwan and Singh “ at the Curlies shack cum restaurant the previous night.
Police registered two cases in the murder case “ a murder case and a narcotics case and so far arrested five people in connection with the case, including the owner of Curlies restaurant Edwin Nunes and two drug peddlers Dattaprasad Gaonkar and Ramakant Mandrekar.
Nunes was released on conditional bail last week.
