Former MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho informed that the loyal tax payers will file a PIL in HC in one of these days since the MMC has not taken cognizance of the voices of Madgavkars not to impose sanitation fees on premises which are closed.
“The Municipality headed by Chairperson Babita Angle Prabhudesai has left the common citizen and the loyal tax payers with no option than to knock the doors of the judiciary for justice. The citizens have been driven by the municipality to knock the doors of the court,” he added.
Wednesday saw the former municipal chairperson addressing a letter to the municipal staff to make the municipality their second home and strive hard to make the civic body financially strong.
“More specially, so that you need not have to struggle for the dues entitled to you. No doubt, the will of the elected body is equally important for positive measures to strengthen the financial backbone of the Council. Just as it is a feeling in the mind of every staff that the ‘other’ is not doing his duty, “so why should I?”
“Similarly the loyal taxpayer feels that ‘others’ are not paying taxes, “so why should I?” Understanding the fact that this Council does not have the will to activate the lethargic few in the MMC, we are in the process of filing a PIL in HC so that the neglected revenue sources are effectively tapped,” he told the municipal employees.
