Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar on Saturday said former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar’s simplicity, decision-making ability and transparent working manner had made him the most popular chief minister of Goa.
Sarpanch Govekar was addressing a condolence meeting organised by the Pilerne-Marra Panchayat to pay tributes to late Manohar Parrikar at the Pilerne
Panchayat hall.
“Late Parrikar was instrumental in the development of Goa. The Atal Setu, Calvim-Carona Bridge, new Mandovi Bridge, Shyama Prasad Mukherji stadium at Donapaula and the garbage treatment plant at Saligao are few major projects which were constructed during his tenure as chief minister.”
“The Laadli Laxmi and Gruha Adhar social schemes launched by him have benefited the poor sections of society He was not only the leader of BJP but also of the masses. He was an inspiration for politicians and the role model for youth.”
“His will power was very strong and he worked for the development of Goa till he breathed his last,” said Govekar.
Zilla Panchayat Member Rupesh Naik described Parrikar as a visionary, whose mission was to make Goa a
developed state.
