Piped gas 40% cheaper than cylinders: Vasco MLA

VASCO

Vasco MLA Krishna (Daji) Salkar on Thursday said piped gas is economical and around 40 per cent cheaper than LPG cylinders.

He was speaking to reporters after the Indian Oil Adani Gas Pvt Ltd (IOAGPL) inaugurated work for the supply of piped gas to Vasco city in his presence. Mormugao Municipal councillors Deepak Naik, Shami Salkar, Girish Borker, Leo Rodrigues and others were also present.

"The work has been launched in Vasco and this is good for Vascokars who will now get direct gas through pipes in their houses. The IOAGPL has already started its gas stations in areas like Zuarinagar and work for piped gas supply has begun from the city by laying of pipelines.”

“There will be no hassles to replace or book cylinders and a lot of manual work and labour costs will be saved. This is also an environment-friendly initiative," said Salkar.

IOAGPL Deputy General Manager Projects Sachin Pathare told reporters that the piped gas supply project is safe, economical and environment-friendly, besides catering to the needs of the customer 24x7.

"We want to reach out to maximum people in Vasco city so that they can take the benefits of this project. The project was taken in phases and this is the second phase, while phase one was in Chicalim to MES College Junction where piped gas connection has started.”

“Our next phase will be in Margao and continue to the whole of South Goa. We have CNG Stations at Cortalim, Birla Junction and Colva. We have also started with industrial connections in Verna Industrial Estate and we have started the works of laying pipelines for piped gas supply in Vasco," said Pathare.
