The new panchayat building and football ground at Pirna are expected to be completed by March-April next year, with construction of both projects progressing well, Sarpanch Sandip Tanavde informed villagers at the gram sabha held on Sunday.

Project costs

The new panchayat building is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore, while the football ground project has been tendered at Rs 80 lakh.

Responding to requests from local youth, Tanavde said the proposed football ground would also be suitable for cricket, allowing it to accommodate more than one sport.

Development works

During the gram sabha, the sarpanch said most of the development works undertaken by the panchayat had been completed, with the remaining works expected to be finished over the next five to six months. He also claimed that all village roads had been hotmixed and that arrangements were in place to ensure a regular supply of water and electricity.

“There were no major queries from villagers on development works, as most of the works have been completed,” Tanavde said.

Speaking to The Goan, he claimed that several works which had remained pending for nearly 25 years had been completed during the panchayat’s four-and-a-half-year tenure.

“We have completed most of the works in the village and the remaining works will be completed within the next six months. In fact, what was not done in the last 25 years, we have completed in the last four-and-a-half years,” he said.
