Plan B in place if alliance with Cong fails: GFP

Says serious to contest Canacona seat with or without alliance

Plan B in place if alliance with Cong fails: GFP

CANACONA
Admitting that talks for an alliance with Congress are in progress, Goa Forward Party General Secretary Prashant Naik made it clear that his party would demand the Canacona seat if an alliance is formed.

“In any case, the GFP has Plan B in place, in case the alliance does not take place or if GFP is denied Canacona seat in the alliance,” said Naik, while addressing a news conference in Canacona on Friday.

“In case an alliance takes place, we will demand the Canacona seat as one of the many seats on merits. I am myself a candidate the GFP can field in Canacona and have been doing ground work since the last one year.”

“Canacona constituency has 57 booths and we already have all 57 booth level committees in place. We are setting up our office at Chaudi soon. Our party supremo will also tour Canacona sometime soon to meet people and address the booth level leadership,” said Naik.

The GFP general secretary confirmed that serious talks are going on with the Congress for an alliance to take on the BJP.

“The alliance could very well become a reality, given the agreeable ideology of both parties, Moreover, it won’t be much of an issue when arch-rivals like Shiv Sena and Congress can come together to keep BJP out in Maharashtra.”

“GFP stands a better chance of winning in Canacona constituency, as people are looking for a new face and given that we are ready to take on new challenges, the GFP will stake claim for the Canacona seat.”

Asked what would GFP do in case an alliance did not work out with the Congress, Naik replied: “The GFP has Plan B in place in case the alliance does not happen or if the GFP is denied Canacona seat as part of the alliance. But GFP is serious to win the Canacona seat.”
