Plan on early polls shows MLA acquisition failed: Goencho Avaaz Party

PANAJI

Responding to news in print media regarding Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s sudden decision to prepone the state assembly elections to the end of 2021, Goencho Avaaz Party said that it is an indication that the BJP’s ‘MLA acquisition strategy’ has failed.

Capt Viriato Fernandes, Goencho Avaaz Party, State Convenor said that the CM and his BJP party were fully aware that their poaching of the 10 + 2 MLAs elected on tickets of other parties, would not stand the test of legal scrutiny when the inevitable takes place and it is legally challenged.

“This was a government conceived and born in illegitimacy. It manipulated its way into power by transgressing and subverting all democratic norms of decency. However, there is a limit to how far a vehicle constructed and put together from random parts stolen from vehicles of other makes can carry its passengers. Elected MLAs connected not by ideology, but solely by greed and political expediency, betrayed the mandate of their electorate, and the parties on whose tickets they were elected. The government that was born out of this illicit union fulfilled its inevitable destiny of destroying Goa through large scale corruption, infighting, incompetence, unresponsiveness and lack of direction. Sadly, the brunt of this was borne by the unfortunate common man, who had to go through unimaginable pain and suffering thanks to their representatives who cold-bloodedly and callously went against the will of the people.’’

‘’Since the BJP forced its way into power, the interests of Goa and Goans have been brazenly sold to vested interests,” said Swapnesh Sherlekar, Goencho Avaaz Party’s President.
