Even as the government will have a high-level meeting on Friday over the proposed traffic diversion to complete the bridge work between Cortalim circle and Sharayu Toyota showroom, Archaeology and Archives Minister Vijai Sardesai said the government must consider ongoing feasts in the State while finalising the proposed traffic diversion plans.
Speaking to reporters along the sidelines of a review meeting at the site of the old church at Sancoale, Sardessai said: “St Joseph Vaz is the only Saint of Goa and the feast is on January 16, while the novena will begin from January 7.”
“A lot of devotees from all over the world converge here during the feast. The traffic diversion plan should not happen during this event as it would create traffic chaos and cause severe inconvenience to devotees,” said Sardesai.
“Keeping this in mind, the government should postpone plans for the proposed traffic diversion to after January 16. This will be one point that will be considered when I meet PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday,” said Sardesai, while assuring to take up this issue during a special meeting to discuss the traffic diversion on Friday.
