Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday stated that the government is planning to install dura cylinders as a backup to the oxygen manifold at Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Dura cylinders are vacuum insulated liquid gas cylinders used for storing cryogenic gases such as medical oxygen at very low temperatures.
CM Sawant’s official Twitter handle said, “Dura cylinders are now being planned to be installed as a backup to GMC's O2 manifold. Each one of these have a capacity of at least 28 jumbo cylinders as they are filled with LMO instead of pressurised gas. Also, there is no issue of oxygen supply in the Hospital...We are making all efforts to ensure regular oxygen supply to save lives during this critical phase of pandemic.”
CM visited the prominent Covid facilities in South Goa on Wednesday. He inspected the South Goa District Hospital, ESI Covid Hospital in Margao and Sub-District Hospital in Ponda.
“Visited the South Goa District Hospital today. The tanker leakage issue which occurred yesterday was promptly tackled by the maintenance team. The team of doctors and healthcare workers at the hospital are doing commendable work in treating around 500 patients admitted presently,” CM’s official handle tweeted.
