Plea for patience on Goa solution to mining crisis

IT'S GONNA TAKE TIME

Says BJP National vice-president Vinay Sahastrabuddhe ...

PANAJI: BJP National vice-president Vinay Sahastrabuddhe on Wednesday said a solution to Goa's mining impasse will take time as it involves judicial rulings and refuted the charge that the NDA government has done nothing.
“It is not true to say that nothing has been done on this (mining) issue. This is an intricate issue and as everybody is aware the judiciary is involved. If it was left to the Government perhaps it would have been easy. As judiciary is involved the issue has become tricky and is therefore taking longer. I am sure sooner or later it will be solved,” said Sahastrabuddhe while addressing the media at a Panaji hotel.
"I cannot predict when the solution will come. Perhaps more patience is required. Prime Minister is looking into it and sooner or later solution will come," Sahastrabuddhe who is an MP said.
He further said that the entire gamut of issues related to the mining sector in Goa is under the active consideration at government's highest level.
“In a way, it’s work in progress. Let there be no doubt about it. The Centre and State are on the very same page,” Sahastrabuddhe said.
To a pointed question on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's reported statement at Monday's Cabinet meeting that Goa's mining imbroglio will have to be resolved by the State as there was no concrete assurance from the Centre, Sahastrabuddhe insisted that the Central and State governments are in tandem on solving the issue.
“There is nothing called division between Centre and State on the mining issue. There is complete unanimity,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sahatrabuddhe announced that the BJP is in the process of consultation with people from various sections of society to formulate its manifesto and a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Rajanath Singh.
BJP manifesto will be out by end of March, he added.
Sahastrabuddhe also met tourism industry stakeholders from Goa to get their feedback regarding the industry.
