PANAJI: It has come to light that Indirabai M D'Costa appointed to the post of laboratory technician at the STD clinic at the Hospicio Hospital, Margao, did not attend the interview for the post held on January 15, but was appointed to the post nevertheless.
In a letter written to the director of the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on February 11, Dr Ira Almeida, deputy director and medical superintendent (MS) of Hospicio Hospital states that D' Costa was present for duty at her then post at Goa State AIDS Control Society (GSACS), for the whole day. A copy of the muster roll of GSACS staff for January obtained under RTI shows that D'Costa's entry for January 15 has been tampered with and overwritten with "EL."
Dr Almeida in her letter has asked the director of the DHS to take the necessary action. Further, her letter states, "It is to state that Smt Indirabai MD Costa was present on 15/01/2019, but subsequently the muster roll has been tampered with and it has been noticed that EL has been over written." She adds, "It is also the day that interviews for laboratory technicians were held and she has been given the post as she has joined against the laboratory technician's post."
Dr Vassundhara Dessai, Health Officer of the STD Clinic at Hospicio has in a written correspondence to Dr Almeida on February 6 also confirmed that D'Costa was present for full day duty on January 15.
