Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said there are plenty of opportunities for youth in the food and restaurant business in the State.
He was speaking at Porvorim after inaugurating the ‘Royal Taste’ restaurant along the Chogm road in the presence of Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, former RDA Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar, former Fatorda MLA Damodar Naik and the restaurant owner, Guruprasad Pai.
“Research studies have suggested a surge in Goa’s restaurant and hotel sector in the near future and hence there is plenty of job opportunities for youngsters keen on seeking employment in the state’s hospitality sector,” said Sawant.
“As a popular tourist hub, Goa offers unmatched opportunities for a strong hospitality career. The best brands in the world have a presence in Goa and tourists from around the world visit this place. This provides very good exposure to anyone building their career here.”
“There is a good scope for food and restaurant business in Goa as it is highly lucrative, but comes with a lot of competition,” Sawant further said.
Commending Pai for starting his restaurant, the chief minister said the restaurant is located along the busy Chogm road which is one of the most popular routes for tourists.
“This restaurant has provided employment opportunities for several young people. Unemployed youths should think now of becoming job givers instead waiting for government jobs,” said Sawant.
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik said very few youngsters venture into business activity, even though the State government offers financial assistance through the EDC at concessional interest rates to start business activities.
Guruprasad Pai said his dream had become a reality, after having worked for five years on the project.
