Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said India was already a superpower in the making and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful air strike in Pakistan occupied Kashmir on Tuesday.

Godinho was speaking to reporters after inspecting the SAG playground at Chicalim and the proposed playground at Bogmalo.

“I congratulate Narendra Modi for having taken the strongest action against Pakistan who were harbouring terrorism and sending terrorists from across the border, killing our soldiers, which will never be tolerated in this country.”

“The whole country has risen as one and there is unity among all citizens. If Pakistan still thinks of acting funny by trying to disturb our civilian life, India will offer an even stronger response at an appropriate time.”

“Pakistan is one small country while India by itself is a great superpower. The PM has rightly said the sacrifices of martyrs will never go in vain. We believe in peace and harmony with neighbours and with every country in the world,” said Godinho.

Speaking on the proposed playground at Bogmalo, Godinho said the playground would be taken up in two phases. “They don’t have any ground at the moment, so we have proposed to develop the place now in two phases. In the first phase, we are going to get the filling done and level it along with fencing.”

“We are going to have a temporary fencing and levelling of the ground, so that the boys can play on this ground. We will be able to immediately start playing and in the next financial year, we will take up the next phase and develop it with proper estimates as a full-fledged ground with state-of-the-art facilities, which include changing rooms,” added Godinho.
