PMC to build cattle pound

The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has decided to construct a cattle pound in a bid to get rid of stray cattle menace. The PMC has submitted file pertaining to construction of a cattle pound shed to the municipal administration.
Speaking to The Goan, PMC Chief Officer Navnath Naik said they are trying their best to construct the cattle pound shed. "We know the importance of this issue and has asked for permission from the DMA to construct the cattle pound shed," he said.
Sources from PMC said the cattle pound shed will be constructed either in Bondbhag area or at Kerye-Khandepar. The council has planned to construct two sheds in Kerye-Khandepar, one for cattle pound and another for other use.
Accidents have taken place in Ponda taluka during night on the roads due to the stray cattle menace.
According to Chief Officer Naik, knowing all the facts about stray cattle menace, his officers worked on the plan and the file was submitted to DMA. "We hope to get a nod from DMA and once we get it, we will soon start the work," he said.
