A case has been registered against M/s Thalassa, located in Vaddy, Siolim for allegedly violating noise pollution regulations during late-night events in December 2024 and New Year’s Eve.
The complaint was lodged by Sharmila Monteiro, Member Secretary of the Goa State Pollution Control Board, on January 22.
According to the complaint, loud music was played at the venue on two occasions: December 22, 2024, from 10.00 pm to 6.00 am on December 23, and December 31, 2024, from 10.00 pm to 6.00 am on January 1, 2025.
Sound levels recorded during the events exceeded permissible limits, with readings of 67.6 dB and 71.7 dB, respectively.
This violation contravenes the provisions outlined in the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, and Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986. The excessive noise reportedly caused disturbance in the locality.
The case, is currently under investigation, with SDPO Mapusa. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
