Police busted a gambling racket using a banned Chinese poker gambling app in Porvorim and have arrested three persons in this connection.
Acting on specific information, Porvorim police raided a house near the PDA colony in Porvorim between 7 pm and 11 pm on Friday.
Police arrested three persons, Shashank Singh of Patna, Rajnish Kumar of Bihar and Anup Palod of MP and seized cash of Rs 5.5 lakh, mobile phones, laptops, computers, Ipads and gaming chips, all worth Rs 25 lakh.
Police have registered an offence under Sections 420, 408, 120(B), 34 of IPC and Section 66 (B) of Income Tax Act and Sections 3 and 4 of Public Gambling Act.
“After completing the formalities, we have handed over the case to the Crime Branch at Panjim said PSI Malik, who led the team conducting the raid under the guidance of PI Anant Gaonkar.
This is the second raid conducted by PI Gaonkar after taking charge of Porvorim police station.
