Anjuna Police busted a sex racket at Gumalwada-Anjuna on Thursday night and arrested six persons, including three pimps, and rescued four women.
Anjuna police said the sex trade had been in operation in two rented rooms of house since the last one month.
Acting on a tip that some women had been brought to the rooms, a police team headed by PI Chetan Patil and comprising PSI Viswajit Chodankar, Harish Vaigankar, Vishal Mandrekar, Constables Vishal Naik, Pravin Patil, Suhas Joshi, Anant Chari, Satyendra Nasnodkar, Vinayak Palav and women constables Shweta Parab and Pratidnya Naik raided the two rooms.
The police found four women in their mid-twenties, three pimps and three customers.
Police arrested Shaish Karan (Rajasthan), Ujwala Kamble and Shinaz Kazoo (Sangli-Maharashtra), Mani Vannan (Porvorim), Amit Lamani (Baga) and Altaf Khatib (Nerul). The women, who hail from Rajasthan and Maharashtra, were later sent to the Apna Ghar in Merces.
Police said Karan, Kazoo and Kamble were allegedly running a brothel and were supplying the victim women to different customers for prostitution. Anjuna Police is investigating the case.
