The Goa Against Coal (GAC) conducted its second awareness programme on coal pollution for Vasco citizens on Thursday evening.
The programme was organised near the Mormugao Municipal Council building and Abhijeet Prabhudessai, Rupesh Shinkre and others spoke on the occasion.
The GAC addressed a gathering of people and various slides were shown on the ill effects of coal pollution.
"The 12th five year plan clearly states that the dirty cargo causing pollution should be moved out of ports near residential areas and cities. We are inviting people from Vasco, Sada, Bogda, Baina, Mangor and Chicalim to join us and discuss about coal pollution in the city. This programme is conducted for a better tomorrow of our children and future generations. We have to ensure coal pollution is stopped in Vasco," said Vikram Sarmalkar, a member of GAC.
