PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday informed the State Legislative Assembly that Margao bus stand would be soon developed as a bus port under a Central scheme.
He was responding to Margao MLA Digambar Kamat who questioned about why the project to develop Margao bus stand was not being taken up by KTC.
"In all, an area of over 66,000 square metres was acquired by KTC. Every day one lakh commuters and 600 buses pass through this bus stand. Why this prime project is not being taken up by KTC. Do not was this prime land at the entry point of Margao", said Kamat.
Stating that the project to develop KTC bus stand in Margao was given to Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), Dhavalikar said, "Now I will get it withdrawn. MoRTH has come up with a scheme to develop bus ports on lines with airports. For this scheme, Margao is the best place where we can have the bus port."
