Mormugao Police on Saturday nabbed a youth from Desterro-Vasco in connection with a scooter theft within an hour of the complaint.
Speaking to reporters, Mormugao PSI Sajith Pillai said police had received a complaint from a resident of Desterro on Saturday morning regarding the theft of his scooter, which was parked below his house on Friday night.
"We registered his complaint under Section 379 and PI Paresh Naik formed two teams for the investigation. Within an hour, one police team comprising Purshottam Naik, Vivek Bhagat and I nabbed the 18-year-old accused near the MPT Colony while he was attempting to flee.”
“We took the accused along with the stolen scooter to the police station. The accused confessed to the crime and has been placed under arrest.”
“The accused has been linked to another crime as well. Around three months ago we had detained him in a burglary case but since he was a minor then, he was lodged in Apna Ghar and was released one month ago as he turned 18," said Pillai.
