Eight persons were arrested by Agassaim police on charges of organising a bullfight at Dandi-Agassaim on Thursday, which claimed the lives of both bulls.
The police informed that the bullfight was organised at 6 am and while one bull died during the bullfight, the other bull succumbed to its injuries later.
The eight arrested persons were Bevan Monteiro, Hussain Pategar, Vishal Shaikh, Arbaz Bepari, Mahesh Naik, Karim Bepari, Nitesh Palyekar and Sudesh Govekar.
The police has registered an offence under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act “ section 11 (m) (n), and section 429 r/w 34 IPC.
All the eight accused were released on bail the same day and PSI Yogesh Gadkar is conducting further investigations in the matter.
