In a meticulous advisory issued during peak tourism season, the Goa Police have asked hoteliers to employ private guards for hotel security in every prominent area of the hotel and to equip them with handheld wireless sets.
The advisory issued by the Inspector General of Police Jaspal Singh also cautions that the security persons employed should be from registered private security agencies.
Police also have advised hotel owners to deploy trained security guards in uniform at the entrance of the hotel, parking areas and rear side of the hotel.
The background of the employees should be verified and temporary staff should be hired from reputed contractors who maintain up-to-date databases of their employees, the advisory states.
The hotel owners are also asked to click photos of guests checking in to the hotel at the reception counter and keep the same in their records.
All hotels should have a compound wall with a height of at least 2 meter and barbed wire above the compound wall. The number of access points needs to be reduced to a minimum of two or three and entry of persons should be regulated, says the advisory.
The advisory also mandates that CCTV installed in the hotels should have at least 30 days storage capacity.
Police have told hotels which have open space towards the sea to install towers to keep watch on the movement of any suspicious persons.
