Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar has said the police will jointly work with Drishti lifeguards to keep a close eye on those tourists under the influence of alcohol who are likely to swim in non-swim areas.
In a press note, Ajgaonkar thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for arranging a meeting with the DIG Goa and making arrangements of police personnel to monitor the tourists.
“I am thankful to the chief minister for arranging the meeting with the DIG and assuring us the support of police personnel,” said Ajgaonkar.
The DyCM also appealed to tourists to take all precautionary measures while swimming at various beaches in the State.
“Cyclonic weather has increased the risk of waters in Goa. Lifeguards along with police personnel are there to help the tourists. So I request all visiting tourists to enjoy their swimming safely and also to take advise of lifeguards,” said Ajgaonkar.
“Every life is precious. Please pay heed to the advice of lifeguards and enjoy your stay with proper precaution,” the minister added.
