District police chief, South SP Shekhar Prabhudesai, said they haven’t raised the security bill for providing security for the DefExpo for the simple reason that the exhibition of armaments was supported by the Goa government.
When his attention was drawn to the fact that the exhibition must have generated huge business during the four-day event, the SP, South said the police cannot charge the state government, which had supported the expo organized by the Ministry of Defence. “When the government is involved in organizing an event, the police normally do not raise any bill for security bandobast. Only in case of private events the police charge the organisers for security,” he said, adding that the police had raised the bill on F C Goa since the sporting extravaganza was a private sports and entertainment event. The police had mobilized huge manpower for the event. Besides maintaining law and order in the wake of the protests by anti-DefExpo protesters.
