Police question 50 linked to sand extraction activities

Also direct licensed gun owners from the area to report to the Pernem police station

Pernem police have questioned about 50 persons linked to sand extraction activities, in connection with the shooting and injuring of two sand extractors at Porascadem in Ugvem-Pernem in the early hours of Tuesday.

While the accused in the firing incident are yet to be nabbed, police have also directed all licensed gun owners in the areas of Porascadem, Naibag, Warkhand, Mopa, Ugvem and Torse to appear at the police station and provide details to the police.

When contacted, Pernem Police Inspector Sachin Lokre expressed confidence that the accused in the case would be nabbed soon.

“Around 50 persons linked to sand extraction activities were called to the police station for questioning. Besides, we have also asked all those who have a licence to own guns to appear at the police station as part of investigations to identify the gun used in the crime,” said PI Lokre.

Meanwhile, the two sand extractors, Ramrishi Ramraj Paswan (54) and Lal Bahadur Goud, both natives of Bihar, who were shot and wounded after they had gone to extract sand from the Terekhol River, continue to be admitted at the GMC hospital in Bambolim.
