Verna police has registered an offence against a branch manager of The Sada Urban Co-op Credit Society Ltd (TSUCCSL) on charges of misappropriation to the tune of Rs 1.19 crore.
In a complaint, Pratosh Lotlikar, General Manager of TSUCCSL, Mormugao, stated that on August 21, while the Internal Society's Team led by him was conducting a physical internal audit of one branch of the society, they found that from April 20, 2020, the branch manager was assigned with the work of management and administration of the branch of the Society/Bank, allegedly created a fake loan account on customer's fixed deposits without any documentation and also closed the said fixed deposit of members/customer without the consent of the customers.
The branch manager is alleged to have misappropriated the same by transferring the amount in different bank accounts and also by withdrawing the amount for her personal gain, thereby cheating the Society and causing it a loss to the tune of Rs 1,19,42,717. Verna PI Prashal P Naik Dessai is investigating the case.
