Police yet to identify woman in Siolim murder

Twenty-four hours after the charred body of a woman was found at an open ground in Siolim, police were yet to establish the identity of the woman. rnThe postmortem report, from which the police hoped to gain more clues, was inconclusive as doctors could not ascertain the woman’s exact cause of death.

“The doctors could not ascertain definitive cause of death since the body was completely burnt. But the postmortem report ruled out any stabbing or external injuries,” said SP North Karthik Kashyap.
He said there was a possibility that the woman was smothered to death before the accused set her body ablaze to destroy evidence.
In the meanwhile, Anjuna police went across the Siolim village meeting people trying to find any possible information that could lead to establish the identity of the murdered woman.
“Our efforts are going on. We are doing our best to collect as much evidence as possible,” said Anjuna PI Sanjay Dalvi.
It may be recalled a woman in her 20s was found burnt beyond recognition at Bamon-vaddo in Siolim on Friday morning.
Police had registered an offence under Section 302 (murder) and Section 201 (destruction of
evidence) of IPC against unidentified persons.
