The BJP and the Congress seemed locked in a game of one-upmanship over the Cuncolim bus stand, which is craving for attention over the years.
After the PWD tendered the work of replacement of the roofing sheets and painting of the steel structure of the Cuncolim bus stand, Congress MLA Yuri Alemao was quick to take to the social media to announce that the work has been tendered after his inspection and repeated follow up with the authorities.
Yuri further promised to take up other issues related to the overall management of the bus stand with KTC Chairman, MLA Ulhas Tuemkar.
Monday saw both the BJP and the Congress workers taking up the issue of the bus stand in strength.
KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuemkar was scheduled to visit the BJP Cuncolim office on Monday morning for an interaction with party workers. With reports doing the rounds that the MLA Tuemkar may inspect the Cuncolim bus stand along with BJP workers, Congress workers also assembled at the bus stand in numbers.
Congress MLA Yuri Alemao said the Congress workers and Councilors assembled at the bus stand to brief the KTC Chairman on the state of the bus stand. He said the bus stand was is in dire need of electrical repairs, structural cleaning and painting. Yuri said the public toilets were in horrible condition.
As it turned out, the KTC Chairman did not make a halt at the Cuncolim bus stand while returning after an interaction with the party workers.
Tuemkar told The Goan that he would inspect the Cuncolim bus stand with officials at a later date after seeking all details. He, however, said party workers, including Cuncolim Councillors, have briefed him on the urgent need for repairs.
