Politicos absent as Saraswats take tapta mudra in Canacona

Even as the political upheaval scene heated up in the State, bureaucrats belonging to Saraswat lineage lined up to take Tapta Mudra Dharana, a ritual where a heated seal is stamped on the body at Partagali Jeevottam Mutt on the occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi on Sunday.

Till noon, no politician descended at the Mutt, though Union Minister Shripad Naik was expected, while developments gave rise to the speculation that eight Congress MLAs are on their way to join BJP.

With the Traffic Cell of Goa police providing elaborate arrangements at the three-day Punyatithi Mahotsav of Shreemad Vidhyadhiraj Teerth Shripad Vader being held from Friday at Partagali Mutt, DySP (Traffic-South) who was at the Mutt to supervise the arrangements, was one amongst many of the Saraswats who took the Tapta Mudra Dharana at the hands of Partagali Swami Shree Vidhyadeesh Teerth Shripad Swami.

At Partagal Math, the Hari Smaranam as part of the three-day Punyatithi Mahotsav ceremony began with Nirmalya Visarjana at 6 am and the Ashadha Ekadashi Ekaha Bhajan began at 7 am, and the 24-hour Akhand Bhajan commenced at 8 am which will go on till Monday.

The Tapta Mudra Dharana commenced as several devotees began to take the heated mudra stamped on their body, a ritual carried out by H H Vidhyadeesh Teerth Shripad Swamiji himself.

The heated mudra is stamped on the stomach, chest and hand in quick succession.

Incidentally, the three-day event of Punyatithi Mahotsav of Shreemad Vidhyadhiraj Teerth Shripad Vader Swami which came to an end with Shree Ramdev Veer Vithal Mahapooja on Sunday had visitors and VVIPS also from Karnataka and Kerala besides Goa Governor and Chief Minister, also observed the Akshadha Shukla Ekadashi on Sunday.
