OLD GOA
Even as assembly elections in the State have concluded, the Save Old Goa Action Committee has decided to continue with the fast satyagraha till there’s a definite move on demolition of the controversial structure.
The decision was taken as the satyagraha completed 85 days on Wednesday.
“The battle is not over yet as the structure continues to stand. Hence, we have decided to continue with the fast satyagraha till we get a favourable decision on demolition of the structure,” activist Anthony D’Silva informed The Goan.
“If the owner himself demolishes the structure within the 15 days, then it will be well and good. However, if the issue goes to the court, then we are also ready to fight the legal battle,” D’Silva added.
It may be recalled that the Se Old Goa panchayat had issued a demolition order to Sumermal Jain of Corvus Urban Infrastructures LLP in which 15 days were given to demolish the structure on his own, failing which the panchayat would proceed with the demolition process as laid under the Goa Panchayat Raj Act.
