Ponda to get library

Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude on Monday said a well-equipped library for Ponda taluka with study rooms for students pursuing higher education like IAS, IPS, etc, will be set up.

He was speaking at a book release function in Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir Ponda. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, stage artiste Rajdeep Naik, writer Suchita Narvekar, 
poetess Vinanti Kansar and other were present on the 
occasion.
Six drama books penned by Narvekar were released on the occasion. The books are published by Kala Chetana Volvoi.   
Speaking further, Gaude said the government is committed to deliver the best for the society. “To gain knowledge through books, we need one good and well-equipped library for Ponda taluka. It will have study rooms so that students can study there. Efforts will be made to make available vivid books in this library,” Gaude said.   
“Writers should write keeping in mind that their writing will steer the society. We have to keep the humanity alive,” he added.   
Speaking on the occasion, Parrikar suggested to the Konkani writers to translate their literature into Marathi or Hindi, so they get many readers. 
“We have to show to the nation that Goans have the capability of penning quality literature. It is possible if we translate our literature in Marathi or Hindi,” Parrikar said.   
“Nowadays, people don’t ponder on some issues. But when we watch dramas, its message forces us to think,” he said.   
Suchita Narvekar, Rajdeep Naik and Vinati Kansar also spoke on the occasion.
