Ponda’s healthcare sector gets a leg up, Healthway opens unit

Healthcare services in hinterland Ponda and surrounding areas got a significant leg-up with the opening of Healthway Nursing Home in the town, a unit of Healthway Hospitals, which was commissioned recently.

The nursing home will provide healthcare services full time (24x7), including emergency services, pharmacy, diagnostics (both laboratory and imaging) as well as ambulance services.

The hospital will function from the existing premises of one formerly known as Dr Jayant Kamat Nursing Home and has enhanced facilities as a multispeciality centre. It will also continue the state-of-the-art IVF treatment services there, as before.

“Healthway Hospitals is always committed to providing comprehensive healthcare for all patients and is NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) accredited,” said Dr Virendra Gaonkar, chairman of Healthway Hospitals Goa.

FDA shuts unhygienic food stall in Margao

MARGAOThe Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) continued its inspection drive at the Old Market feast fair on Tuesday to check if food stalls were following hygiene rules.FDA officer Sanjyot Kudalkar, who led the team, found one stall operating in an unhygienic manner and ordered it to shut down.The official said the drive will continue throughout the fair.
