Poriem sarpanch voted out

Poriem Sarpanch Bhiso Gaonkar was voted out of office in a no-confidence motion moved by four panchas.

Gaonkar was voted out of office by 4-3 votes in the seven-member Poriem Panchayat.

It may be recalled that a few days back, Panchas Gurudas Gurao, Narayan Manjrekar, Anil Majik and Prajokta Salgaonkar had signed a no-confidence motion notice against Goankar. They had accused the sarpanch of not taking them into confidence for any works related to the panchayat and also not cooperating with them while carrying out development works in their wards.

All the four panchas, who had moved the no-confidence motion, voted in favour of the motion, while Panchas Yeshwant Naik and Laxmi Naik besides, sarpanch Gaonkar voted against the motion.

Suring a special meeting convened to discuss the no-confidence motion, Gaonkar informed that all allegations levelled against him are baseless.
