A portion of an old roadside building near Pernem market collapsed on Friday.
There were no casualties reported as no traffic was proceeding on the road at the time of the incident, but traffic was disrupted on account of the debris which fell on the road.
Pedne Deputy Collector Shivprasad Naik and the Pernem Mamlatdar went to the site and took stock of the situation.
Traffic Police diverted traffic along other routes, while a JCB which was pressed into service cleared the debris from the road by Friday evening.
However, the building is in a dangerous condition and there is a possibility that the remaining portion of the building could also come crashing down.
