Portuguese connect: CM raises concerns over passport revocation with MEA

As assured on the floor of the House last week, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant met with Minister of State for External Affairs Meenaxi Lekhi in Delhi to raise concerns regarding the revocation of passports of those Goans, whose births are registered in Portugal.

Sawant, joined by Minister Aleixo Sequeira on Saturday, also discussed challenges in acquiring Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status and visa complications after the revocation of passports. While the details of the meeting were not shared with the media, CM took to social media to inform about the development.

“Met and interacted with the Union Minister of State for External Affairs @M_Lekhi along with Goa Cabinet Minister @AleixoASequeira. Discussed the issue of revocation of passports of Goans acquiring Portuguese citizenship. Also urged the Minister to look into the issue of Goans facing difficulties in obtaining OCI cards after surrendering
