With Covid cases rising quickly in Porvorim constituency, thePorvorim Primary Health Centre (PHC) has now recorded the highest active Covidcases in North Goa, surpassing towns like Sankhali and Mapusa.
According to details provided in the official Covid bulletin ofthe health department on Wednesday, the Porvorim PHC has so far registered 228Covid active cases, followed by Sankhali Community Health Centre with 222 andMapusa Urban Health Centre at 203.
These are the only three health centres in North Goa to havedetected over 200 active cases as on Wednesday.
The Porvorim PHC has been detecting 15-20 cases every day andthe infections have spread in all three villages of Penha de Franca, Salvadordo Mundo and Socorro, which come under the jurisdiction of Porvorimconstituency.
The worst affected areas are Betim, Virlosa, Saloi, Socorro,Police Quarters, Torda and Defence Colony.
Meanwhile, Salvador do Mundo Sarpanch Sandeep Salgaonkar statedon social media that he has tested positive for Covid and has advised all thosewho may have come in contact with him to get themselves tested.
Some staff from the Penha de Franca panchayat and a bank havealso tested positive, while a hospital and an automobile dealer have beenforced to temporarily shut down operations as some of their staff had testedpositive for Covid.
