Potholed roads ‘endanger’ motorists in Sanguem

the goan I network

SANGUEM

The State government may have made ambitious assurances to fill potholes on all roads in the State, but a number of roads in Sanguem are in bad shape and need urgent repairs.

Except for the road to Sanguem town towards Bhati village from Curchorem, all other major roads needs immediate repair works or reconstruction.  The road leading to Sanguem Industrial Estate via Cotarli, the road from Sanguem to Kalay village and the road from Dando to Molcornem are in worst condition.

While residents from Kalay have frequently been demanding the repair of potholes all along the road, particularly near the Xavier Marques farm at Costi village, authorities have failed to act in the matter, causing severe hardships to motorists and pedestrians.

While the road to the Sanguem Industrial Estate is widely used by heavy vehicles transporting materials and by visitors to the Selaulim Dam, authorities have failed to repair the road.  The road at Xelpem and Cotarli as well as the road leading to Molcornem village at Chinchant are also in a bad condition.

The large number of potholes at Chinchant makes it a risky for motorists, particularly two-wheelers riders. Incidentally, the situation has been aggravated at night in the absence of street lights.
