GPCC president Girish Chodankar on Sunday slammed the government of chief minister Pramod Sawant for ‘complete insensitivity; to the people. Causing hardships and inconvenience -- topsy-turvy roads -- during the festive season is an example of Sawant’s failure, Girish said.
Chodankar also hit out at the chief minister for his convenient silence on corruption, irregularities and scams which came to the fore in the recent monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly. Chodankar said it is shocking that the chief minister has given acceptance to scams exposed through replies in the legislature.
Chodankar said the government troubled Goa’s youth by making them stand in long queues to obtain forms for job applications at GMC.
Declaring Goa as ODF when thousands still don’t have toilet facilities, failure in providing pothole-free roads before Chaturthi and many areas in Goa remain in the dark were issues raised by Chodankar to flay the government.
Chodankar also questioned the chief minister’s failure to come clean on the admission of one of his relatives in Goa Medical College. He said, Sawant also tried to protect Sports and Tourism Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar in the Rs 61-crore Fatorda Stadium repairs scam, Rs. 4.97 crore Goa International Travel Mart (GITM- 2019) scam, illegal extension given to M/s. Drishti Life Saving Pvt. Ltd. for beach cleaning work, illegal continuance of life guard services by the same company, and the road show scam and exhibition participation by the Tourism department.
