The shut down will be arranged at the 33 KV Raia substation between 9 am to 2 pm, which will affect the power supply to these villages.
When The Goan contacted Executive Engineer Devdasan to shed light on the power shutdown when the residents had to face a similar shut down recently, he said the shutdown is required to carry out maintenance works before the onset of monsoon.
“Last time round, electricity officials had worked on a transformer to ensure that there’s no power interruption during the monsoon. This time round, we will complete the pending maintenance works on May 20,” he said.
Asked to comment on the frequent power outages witnessed in Margao and
surrounding areas during the last few days, Devdasan attributed the interruptions to the supply received from the 220 KV Maharashtra line.
“The power officials have addressed the problem and is gearing up to face any situation during the rains,”
he said.
Attributing the outages witnessed in the city and surrounding areas in the last two days to lightning, Devdasan said even senior power officials were on the field at the Xeldem line after insulators exploded after being struck by lightning.
“We are taking all care to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Margao and Salcete during the rains,” he added.
