The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) launched pre-monsoon works in Vasco constituency by taking up de-silting of the main Nullah through the WRD on Monday afternoon.
Speaking to reporters, Municipal Councillor Shami Salkar said pre-monsoon works would be taken up across all wards.
“Pre-monsoon works have been launched today and work to trim branches, clean gutters and de-silt Nullahs will be taken up. The drainage will be cleared entirely to ensure that there is no flooding anywhere, in the city and across all wards as well,” said Salkar.
“We have started the work to de-silt the major Nullah which starts from Bhutebhat and goes right to Tanya Hotel. Besides this, the Nullahs near the Hindu crematorium and Dhaktolem area will also be de-silted so that the flooding issue is resolved.”
MMC councillor Girish Borker said pre-monsoon works started from Bhutebhat because it was a low-lying area.
