CANACONA
A presentation on the proposed national highway alignment between Bendurdem and Polem will be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Canacona, on Monday at 3.30 pm.
Tribal Welfare Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar has invited the public to attend the presentation, which will focus on the planned development and alignment of the National Highway corridor. It may be recalled that the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is carrying out a major upgrade of NH66. The project, worth Rs 952 crore, involves widening a 22-km stretch between Bendurdem and Canacona into a four-lane corridor through Karmalghat. The upgrade is expected to reduce travel time by 20–30 minutes.
The Bendurdem–Canacona alignment, which will connect to the Manohar Parrikar Canacona Bypass, is also expected to be taken up as a pilot project using Automated and Intelligent Machine-Aided Construction (AIMC) technology.
