Preservation of land for Goans needed: Khalap

MAPUSA

Expressing concern over the unregulated sale of land in Goa, former union minister and Congress’ candidate for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, Ramakant Khalap proposed the establishment of a land bank dedicated to the reservation of land for future Goans.

He emphasized the importance of thinking ahead for the next three-four generations and advocated for the preservation of comunidade and fazenda land for the indigenous population. “There is no control over the sale of land in Goa,” Khalap said while addressing the workers meeting in Saligao and Calangute.

Khalap further called for restrictions on the sale of agricultural land, suggesting that the government should introduce legislation to grant Goans the first right to purchase land in the State.

Highlighting the role of the MP in representing Goa’s interests in the Parliament, Khalap asserted himself as the voice of the State, promising to champion Goan issues on the national stage.

Meanwhile, Aldona MLA and Congress coordinator for the North Goa seat, Carlos Ferreira, criticized the incumbent MP, Shripad Naik, for his alleged lack of proactive representation.
