President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the convocation function of Goa University which is to be held in February.
Governor Mridula Sinha who is also the Chancellor of Goa University, had requested President of India to grace the Convocation of Goa University and the President accepted the request, a statement by the Governor's office said.
Sinha, during her visit to New Delhi recently, met the President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed some of the important issues relating to Goa. The Governor appraised them of the good governance of the State. The leaders appreciated efforts of Sinha for her intervention in important areas of governance as well as in the social field.
The Prime Minister was happy to know about the plans of the Governor to introduce ‘Charkha', ‘Pottery' and ‘Bee keeping' in Goa especially in tribal areas, jail, Raj Bhavan and other areas of Goa. The Prime Minister suggested that Sinha invite Minister for Khadi, Giriraj Singh to Goa as he has invented so many useful devices in these fields.
