Principals deliberate on ‘reinventing teaching-learning process in school’

Principals and heads of schools from across Goa deliberated on reinventing formal teaching-learning processes at the third State-Level Conference hosted at the St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre at Old Goa.

The conference was organised in a collaborative effort beween the Goa Headmasters Assosciation and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

The school heads deliberated on a range of issues through educative and motivational sessions conducted by renowned resource persons, including Fr Roland Coelho, SJ and Provincial of Jesuits, Asst DoE Manoj Sawaikar, Goa Board chairman, Bhagirath Shetye and law professor Afshan Khan.

Education Secretary Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, who was the chief guest, underscored the role of school heads (principals) which he said is to impart life-time knowledge.

Lolayekar urged the principals to provide the students “experimental learning” in classrooms. Director of Education Shailesh Zingde urged the use of Embibe, Parakh and Byju’s app to enhance learning. 

Sister Liberta, who heads the GHA welcomed the delegates and briefed them on the significance, aims and objectives of the conference.

Through the day, after the brief inaugural, school heads deliberated on a range of issues through educative and motivational sessions conducted by renowned resource persons, including Fr Roland Coelho, SJ and Provincial of Jesuits, Asst DoE Manoj Sawaikar, Goa Board chairman, Bhagirath Shetye and law professor Afshan Khan.

Fr Coelho led the session on ‘Reinventing School Education: Preparing Leaders for Positive Change.’ 

Later Sawaikar discussed ‘Micro-Teaching’ at the school level, while Khan, dealt with the POCSO Act.

Shetye, who heads as its chairman the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, interacted with the school heads on all recent circulars and the trends as per NEP 2020.

Shetye also shared details of this year’s introduction of ‘Health and Wellbeing’ as a new academic subject.
