Reacting to the central government’s claims on Wednesday that files on the Dassault-Rafale deal were stolen from the Defense Ministry, Goa Pradesh Congress president Girish Chodankar said that the first lead to these stolen files should be the audio leak released in January of the purported conversation between Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and a journalist.
“The audio leak should be their first lead,” Chodankar said while addressing the press at the Congress headquarters on Wednesday evening.
“If the Defence Ministry is saying the files are missing or stolen, it is very serious. The Supreme Court needs to take the matter seriously. Vishwajit Rane had spoken about this,” said Chodankar referring to the audio leak where Vishwajit said that the Chief Minister had told Cabinet colleagues that the Rafale files were in his bedroom.
“No investigation has been launched into this matter though (two) months have passed,” he said.
Chodankar also stressed that while Vishwajit had claimed the audio file was “doctored”, till date the CM hasn’t come on record to say that the files in question aren’t with him.
The Congress chief continued, “The Prime Minister is trapped, and the Goa audio leak has played its role.”
