In Calangute, Agnelo Fernandes and Joseph Sequiera have joined hands but it has yet to become clear who will bag the Congress ticket. Francis Silveira has been strengthening his hold in St Andre and similarly, Wilfred ‘Babashan’ D’Sa has been active in Nuvem.
There is no confirmation on Vithu Morajkar, who recently quit BJP to join the Congress in Pernem, despite the exit of Manohar ‘Babu’ Azgaonkar, who aspired for Congress ticket till he joined the MGP last month.
The fate of Cumbharjua constituency is also not decided with William Valadares and Youth Congress president Xavier Fialho laying claims to the ticket after the sitting Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar joined BJP.
With Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate floating his own party and voicing his intention to contest from Panaji, St Cruz seat aspirant Urfan Mulla continues to await formal communication from Congress national leadership.
Fatorda block’s Ethel Lobo and Joseph Silva, who have been actively taking on the independent MLA Vijai Sardessai, are also among the prominent aspirants awaiting their turn. ​
