Property dispute turns violent in Verna

A property dispute turned violent at Sonarwaddo in Nagoa-Verna after a woman was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod following an argument over a CCTV camera installed at her house.

The incident took place on January 23 at around 4.30 pm. The accused, Helia Conceicao Vales of Sonarwaddo-Nagoa, allegedly removed a CCTV camera from the house of the complainant, Jacquelina Vales, who also resides in the same area. When the complainant objected and questioned the action, a heated argument broke out.

According to the complaint filed with the Verna police, the accused allegedly abused the complainant during the argument and then assaulted her with an iron rod, hitting her on the hand and causing injuries. Police said the attack was linked to an ongoing property dispute between the two.

Based on the complaint, Verna police registered an offence under Sections 118(1) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Further investigation is being conducted by Verna PSI Pramila Fernandes under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
