Senior PWD officials are believed to have suggested that the government procure the parcel of land behind the existing South Goa district and Sessions Court building and utilize the same for vehicular parking for the proposed Court building.
In fact, the suggestion was mooted by a senior PWD official to bureaucrats as a probable solution to the parking problem, but the suggestion has not been taken to the logical conclusion till date.
The senior official had pointed out that given that the two major court buildings will be located adjacent to each other, the issue of parking can be resolved by procuring the land behind the existing district Court building by the government and utilize the same for parking.
“What I am looking at is a permanent solution. Asking the SGPDA to provide dedicated parking space is a temporary solution. We need to work out a permanent solution which would take care of the future parking requirements”, he added.
The official, however, said it is now for the Law department to work on the proposal and take the suggestion to the logical conclusion.
“No doubt, procurement of the land and constructing the parking lot will involve huge costs. But, it would put in place a permanent parking lot for the two courts”, the PWD official added.
