Mormugao Deputy Collector Mahadev Arondekar on Friday stated that the public hearing for the proposed POL berth by MPT has been fixed at Ravindra Bhavan in Baina on April 20.
Providing clarification about the venue, Arondekar informed reporters that MPT had informed the district magistrate, who, in turn, informed Goa State Pollution Control Board about the venue of the public hearing at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina.
It may be recalled that MPT Chairman I Jeyakumar had told reporters that the POL berth along with a Fishing jetty and Passenger launch jetty was a part of a composite project.
He said the MPT had already submitted a proposal to the Goa state Pollution Control board (GSPCB) along with Environmental Impact assessment ( EIA) reports somewhere in October 2017.
Jeyakumar had claimed the GSPCB had kept the file for three months and had not sought any clarification from the MPT. He had clarified that as per rules, the GSPCB has to send the file within seven days to the collector and fix a date for a public hearing.
Since the GSPCB had not done that within the stipulated period, the MPT had plans to meeting officials and had requested GSPCB a second time to fix a date for a public hearing.
